The Giving Machine at The District at Green Valley Ranch

The Giving Machine transforms a simple shopping trip into an act of generosity during the Henderson holiday season.

Every holiday season, a brightly colored vending machine appears at The District at Green Valley Ranch—just minutes from the Seven Hills entrance—and it does not dispense snacks or sodas. It dispenses generosity. The Giving Machine is one of Henderson's most unique and beloved holiday traditions, and for families living at 2984 Scenic Valley Way, it has become a meaningful annual ritual.

What Is The Giving Machine?

Created by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of its annual "Light the World" campaign, The Giving Machine is a donation kiosk that works like a vending machine in reverse. Instead of purchasing something for yourself, you swipe your card and select a charitable item to donate—everything from meals and warm clothing to eyeglasses, school supplies, dental exams, and support for homeless veterans. After payment, a card representing the purchased donation drops into a bin inside the machine, and you receive a digital receipt. One hundred percent of each donation goes directly to the designated nonprofit.

The machines are installed at The District at Green Valley Ranch between Pottery Barn and Aerie at 2240 Village Walk Drive, Henderson, NV 89052, with daily hours typically running from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM (Monday–Saturday) and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Sundays) during the season.

Why Henderson Loves It

During the 2025–2026 season (November 12 through January 1), The Giving Machine partnered with 13 local and international nonprofits, offering more than 60 donation items. Collectively, the campaign provided over 100,000 meals to communities in need—a remarkable number for a single installation. Community events like the Lake Mead Stake Giving Machine Day on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025, drew hundreds of families for live music, food, and an evening of shared purpose.

What makes the experience special is its accessibility. There is no complicated process, no long form, and no awkward interaction. You walk up, browse the donation options on the screen, tap your card, and walk away knowing that something meaningful just happened. For families with young children, it is an exceptionally effective way to introduce the idea of charitable giving in a tangible, immediate way that kids can actually see and understand.

What It Means for Seven Hills Residents

For buyers considering a move to Seven Hills, The Giving Machine is a small but telling detail about the community they would be joining. Henderson consistently ranks among the most generous cities in Nevada, and traditions like this one reflect a neighborhood culture that values connection, kindness, and shared responsibility. The District at Green Valley Ranch sits roughly five minutes from the front door of 2984 Scenic Valley Way, making it effortless to walk over during the holiday season, grab dinner at one of the restaurants, and stop by the machine as a family. It is the kind of effortless, meaningful community experience that turns a house into a home—and it is one more reason Seven Hills feels different.
